What these codes mean
- Firefighting aircraft (1255) — Aircraft operating on a firefighting mission outside controlled airspace.
- Search / natural-resource flight (1277) — Aircraft on a search, rescue or natural-resource mission.
- Unlawful interference (7500) — The transponder is reporting unlawful interference. Treat as law-enforcement sensitive.
- Radio failure (7600) — The aircraft has lost two-way radio communication with air traffic control.
- General emergency (7700) — The crew has declared a general emergency to air traffic control.
